What musician do you think would make a good president?

Category: Let's talk

Post 1 by Austin's Angel (move over school!) on Friday, 20-Apr-2007 12:09:39

This idea came from something i heard on the radio yesterday.
They were asking the listeners to call in with what musician they thought would make a great president, and i thought this might be an interesting board topic.

Post 7 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Monday, 23-Apr-2007 3:33:06

Oh, anyone from the greatful Dead, Led Zeplin, or Joe Walsh. Tom araya. Um, maybe James Hetfield.

Post 8 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Monday, 23-Apr-2007 3:35:24

The lead singer of System Of A Down. Forgot about him.

Post 9 by Resonant (Find me alive.) on Monday, 23-Apr-2007 6:40:34

Oh man. SoaD for President! I haven't got a clue what their views are on anything at all, but they'd be some entertaining speeches.

OKay, getting all aussie for a second and declaring that Natalie from Blue King Brown should be our Prime Minister. Actually, she should rule the world, but one step at a time.

Erm, for the americans? Ani Difranco! Can you imagine it?

Post 10 by bisco_42 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2007 1:33:19

Henry Rollins.

Post 11 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2007 14:33:44

Henry Rolins sounds like it could work. I'd vote for him. Al from Ministry I'd vote for. Lol, Snoop dogg.

Post 12 by reclusive thinker (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2007 2:28:31

Oh, I have to go with Frank Zappa. Not only would he be as funny and outrageous as any of the others mentioned, but he had a damn good mind, and he would have had better ideas today than anyone currently running. As for Ani Difranco, I might vote for her if I could be sure she wouldn't want to outlaw penises. (Now, just a joke, ok?)

Post 13 by Austin's Angel (move over school!) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2007 20:47:22

snoop dogg? wow!

Post 14 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2007 21:04:26

Lol Reclusive thinker. I couldn't have said it better myself. Now I'm gonna go look up Frank Zapa on Wikipedia Because I'm not of sane mind to know who he is. lol

Post 15 by Resonant (Find me alive.) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2007 1:53:04

Heheheh, Reclusive. Ani would need a panel of academics, to poke her with pointy sticks if she slipped and men suddenly became second class citizens.
I still think someone should give her a global super-power to run though.

Okay, good. Zappa's winning so far... If you haven't heard his music or at least read his bio, you should. he was a creative genius!

Post 19 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2007 23:49:15

Mike Patton. Someone suggested David Dramon from Disturbed at my school, and Edy VanHalen.

Post 20 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2007 23:56:50

Only thing you need to realize Zappa's commander and chief abilities: "Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention"

I only wish he were alive today; he'd have a field day with Bush and his fellow cowboys.

Post 27 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Monday, 30-Apr-2007 12:36:55

Ok, I vote for zappa. I read some quotes by him, rotfl, and wow!!!

Post 30 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 04-May-2007 21:37:13

Oh yeah, if Zappa were alive today, he would certainly have a lot to say regarding the current administration!

Post 31 by the reconstructionist (lucifer doesn't exist. he is only the planet venus personified!) on Friday, 04-May-2007 22:17:10

Uh, yeah, lol, ozzy, he'd probably croak first, To be honest, I don't think he's gonna live much longer with all those drugs anyway.

Post 35 by Perestroika (Her Swissness) on Tuesday, 15-May-2007 0:36:57

I say Bono from U2, simply because he's an amazing songwriter and advocate for human rights and he's done so much for that field.

Post 36 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 15-May-2007 23:25:15

Yeah, I could go with that, if Zappa weren't in the race of course.

Post 41 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Tuesday, 18-Sep-2007 9:08:01

I vote for Bono too. That would be pretty awesome actually. Yeah! Go Bono for president, lol.

Not being into American politics, I really can't answer for president. Plus, I can't think of an English singer off the top of my head who I think would be suited for a position of ruler. But I can answer for Greek prime minister. I'm really surprised that I'm gonna say this, but Nikos Xylouris. I'd usually say Markos Vamvakaris, because he's a personal heroe of mine, both as a musician and as a human being, but Xylouris was a real heroe. He fought against the junta in 1973, risking his life to sing a traditional folk song to rouse the people to revolution, and he, like Markos, kept a level head about him, never letting fame get to him. He's still remembered fondly in his village, wrote alot of patriotic songs and from what I've heard, was a truly good man. Type in "Nikos Xylouris" Crete in Google and you'll see a few good pages.

You read my mind, I nominate Bono, with U2 being his cabinet/parlament. How about Sting? My friend sitting next to me just suggested that, I replied "you're strange".

Post 46 by Austin's Angel (move over school!) on Sunday, 15-Mar-2009 2:00:56

I know this is old, but I vote for Bono as well.

Serj Tankian, sure--or David Draiman, but I'd vote Serj over David any day.
